Jersey Shore Live Steamers 2025 Open House

Jersey Shore Live Steamers is excited to invite fellow live steam hobbyist’s to our 2025 Open House! 

Join us on Saturday, June 14, 2025 (rain date: Sunday, June 15, 2025) for a full day of railroading fun!

Event Schedule: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Track Compatibility:

Our facility supports both 7.5” and 7.25” gauge equipment. If you operate 7.25” gauge, your equipment must comply with IBLS standards, requiring a minimum wheel thickness of 0.075” (including flange) for safe operation on our track.

Bringing Your Own Equipment:

Operators wishing to bring their own locomotives or rolling stock—whether steam, gas, battery, or other power sources—are welcome! To coordinate your visit, please contact Jersey Shore Live Steamers at (609) 857-5182 or email johnjensen01@icloud.com

To help us plan accordingly, we kindly ask that all visiting hobbyists confirm their attendance in advance, especially those bringing equipment.

Requirements for Steam Locomotive Owners:

To operate a steam locomotive at our park, you must provide one of the following:

• A current certification of a satisfactory hydrostatic test for the year, or
• A valid boiler inspection certificate, if applicable.

No exceptions will be made, so please ensure your documentation is up to date before the event. We may be able to help with a hydrostatic test of the boiler the day of the event, please feel free to call/email to ask!

Track Layout & Facilities:

Our track features a 4,000-foot single mainline, configured in a figure-eight layout with a wye at the top, automatically set up with spring switches so operators can run in the other direction.

Our station yard includes:

• A station track for passenger loading,
• A passing track for continuous operation on the mainline, and
• A dedicated track for steamers to dump ashes and refill water.

Additional facilities include:

• Five steaming bays with available water (please note: individual air lines are not yet installed, but extra blowers will be on hand to assist with fire-starting if needed).
• A 10-foot transfer table capable of lifting and lowering locomotives and rolling stock from transport vehicles to the track.

Food & Amenities:

Food may not be provided at the event, so we recommend that attendees bring their own food and drinks. Picnic tables will be available for use throughout the day.

Parking & Accommodations:

• On-site parking is available for all attendees.
• Please note: We do not have RV hookups or facilities to support mobile homes. If you are traveling from out of town and need overnight accommodations, hotels/motels may need to be found.

Safety & Event Considerations:

• All operators must follow standard safety procedures, including track signals, any speed restrictions, and yielding to potential passenger operations. A short safety briefing can be had with operators if need be. 

As with any large gathering, adjustments may be necessary during the event. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in making this a smooth and enjoyable experience for all. We look forward to seeing you for a fantastic day of railroading—see you on the rails!
